Because of our commitment to quality care, we have received multiple accreditations from the Commission of Cancer (CoC) and received favorable data-driven reports regarding patient outcomes from the Cancer Quality Improvement Program (CQIP). Additionally, our nursing staff’s expertise continues to pave the way for quality patient care.
Since 1953, the Cancer Center at Newton-Wellesley Hospital has continuously received the Commission on Cancer (CoC) accreditation from the American College of Surgeons. This accreditation is given to facilities that the CoC determines are committed to providing the best in diagnoses and treatments of cancers, both of which are compliant with evidence-based national treatment guidelines from the National Comprehensive Cancer Network.

In 2019, the Mass General Cancer Center at Newton-Wellesley again achieved full accreditation by the Commission on Cancer (CoC) of the American College of Surgeons (ACS) as a Comprehensive Community Cancer Program (CCCP).
The Cancer Quality Improvement Program (CQIP) is a data-driven, process and outcomes-based cancer quality improvement initiative. It confidentially reports data from the National Cancer Database to 1,500 individual CoC-accredited hospitals, which includes comparisons of national data versus all CoC-accredited programs. New cancer treatments always are on the horizon, and our nurses are dedicated to keeping up to date with them to provide patients with the best possible outcomes. In fact, our Infusion Center nurses complete an initial and annual chemotherapy and biotherapy competency each year.
