Newton-Wellesley Hospital's Integrative Support Services offers mind, body, and relaxation services to our patients. We use massage techniques designed to reduce stress, increase physical healing, and promote good emotional health.

Oncology massage is a safe, gentle, complementary touch therapy than can help you feel better during your treatment and beyond. Patients find that massage helps improve their sense of well-being by easing pain and discomfort, depression, fatigue, and other symptoms from cancer and its treatments. Oncology massage sessions are available in the privacy of the Treatment Room in the Integrative Support Services area. Hand and foot massages are offered by request in the Infusion area at no charge. Barbara Harris, MA, LMT, is Mass General Cancer Center at Newton-Wellesley’s experienced oncology massage therapist.

“Relax and Renew” at Mass General Cancer Center at Newton-Wellesley is a complementary therapy program designed to introduce the basic concepts of meditation and mindfulness for people living with cancer. Patients find that meditation lowers stress, strengthens their immune system, and enhances overall quality of life. The program is appropriate for all levels of ability and experience, including beginners. Individual sessions are available to provide guidance on various breathing techniques to ease stress, as well as gentle stretching exercises to release tension. Shorter sessions may be offered by request in the Infusion area. Gretchen van Dyck Daggett, MA, is a Kripalu-certified mind-body instructor experienced in teaching gentle yoga and meditation/mindfulness.
