Support groups are designed so attendees can gain support through discussing their experience and connecting with others. Our groups help patients, who come to us from throughout the Greater Boston area, to cope with their diagnosis and make meaning of this illness in their lives.
A support group for people who are caring for family members or friends who have cancer. Mass General Cancer Center at Newton-Wellesley’s Caregiver Support Group is a group for caregivers, aimed at providing education and support within a small group setting, to encourage healthy ways to help while patients are going through treatment. The group meets on Wednesday afternoons. Please contact the group facilitator to express interest: Ashley Norby, LICSW, telephone 617-219-1236 or anorby@partners.org.
We welcome all members of the community to join this group — even those who are caring for patients seeking care at another hospital.
The Caregiver Support Group is for people who are caring for friends or family members who have cancer. Taking care of a person with cancer is a physically and emotionally challenging experience. This group will provide a place for caregivers to come together to share practical concerns, as well as thoughts and feelings, with other people who are going through a similar life experience. The agenda of the group will be open-ended and will reflect the wishes and needs of the group members.
Join Aditi Paranjape, RD, LD, for a four-part series of small group-sessions, with cancer prevention lectures focused on simple ways to build a cancer-prevention diet. Aditi will discuss a variety of nutrition and wellness topics related to cancer prevention, offering support and encouragement to patients wanting to make lifestyle changes in nutrition.
This program is free and starts April 3. The program meets weekly on Fridays from 12-1pm. Space is limited! Please call 617-831-7430 to register.
