How We Take Care of You

When you become a patient of the Kaplan Joint Center, you are cared for by a multi-disciplinary team of medical professionals, each contributing something unique to your treatment.

"The whole experience from first visit to surgery was wonderful. All the good things I had heard were absolutely true."
- Grateful patient

Multidisciplinary team approach, from start to finish

We tend to every detail of your care, beginning with your initial consultation through the pre-operative period, then surgery and rehabilitation. Our administrative staff assists with coordinating appointments based on your schedule and help answer questions about insurance. We also assess and coordinate each patient’s individual needs, including case management, physical therapy, occupational therapy and rehabilitation.

The Joint Center offers local patients outpatient physical therapy at our state-of-the-art facility. We partner with several high quality rehabilitation facilities in the region for the benefit of patients who live out of the area to ensure they receive top quality post-surgical care as well. Our research team collects and analyzes data on every surgery we perform as part of our effort to constantly improve outcomes.

Your Team

Your medical team of surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurse practitioners, nurses and administrative staff also includes a Joint Center-dedicated internist who assures that patients’ medical conditions — such as high blood pressure, heart conditions or anemia — are well managed before, during and after surgery. The Joint Center works closely with other hospital departments, including Radiology, Rehabilitation Services, Physical Therapy, Infectious Diseases and Physiatry. Newton-Wellesley internists and hospitalists are also available for hospitalized patients.

Patients undergoing surgery attend a pre-operative class taught by our Nurse Educator to thoroughly prepare them and their family for their procedure and recovery.

To learn more about joint replacement surgery at the Kaplan Joint Center, view our videos featuring Nurse Educator Nancy Hiltz, RN, MS, ONC.
