Sleep Center at Newton-Wellesley Hospital

Advanced care for patients from throughout Greater Boston with sleep disorders

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than one in three Americans don’t get enough sleep on a regular basis. Sleep disorders often play a role in not getting the rest one needs. The Sleep Center at Newton-Wellesley Hospital makes use of home based technology to diagnose and manage sleep disorders while maximizing patient comfort and convenience. For those patients who require attended, overnight evaluation, we work closely with other labs within the Mass General Brigham system. Our sleep specialists have specialized medical expertise in treating sleep disorders.

Watch as Aran Kadar, MD, MPH, Co-Director of the Sleep Center explains what we do:

Sleep Disorders We Treat

We diagnose and treat a number of sleep disorders, including:

  • Insomnia: Difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep
  • Narcolepsy: A condition that affects control of being asleep and awake
  • Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA): Partial closure of the throat during sleep that leads to trouble breathing and lack of restful sleep
  • Periodic limb movement disorder (PLMD): Involuntary movements of the arms and legs during sleep
  • Restless legs syndrome (RLS): Unpleasant sensations in the legs, especially at bedtime

Learn more about the sleep disorders we treat, and explore ways you can improve your sleep hygiene so you can rest better.

Diagnosing Sleep Disorders

It can be challenging for people to realize they’re not getting enough high-quality, restful sleep. Answer these short questionnaires to determine whether you could be at risk for a sleep disorder.

The best method available for us to diagnose your sleep disorder is through a sleep study. We’ll monitor your sleep patterns to determine what factors may be involved in your condition, as well as the best treatment options.

We use a number of additional tests to help rule in or rule out various conditions that might contribute to sleep disorders. Learn more about our diagnostic tests.
