About the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program

The Newton-Wellesley Cardiac Rehabilitation Program is a medically approved exercise and education program to help people regain strength, endurance, and confidence after a heart attack, heart surgery, or other heart-related condition. We are certified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR), a measure of excellence and quality.

The Benefits of Cardiac Rehabilitation

  • Improved health and quality of life
  • Reduced need for medicines to treat heart or chest pain
  • Lower chances of having to go back to the hospital or emergency room for a heart problem
  • Helps prevent future heart problems
  • Helps you live longer
  • Decreased risk factors for other conditions such as diabetes, stroke, or peripheral artery disease (PAD)

Cardiac Rehabilitation Team

At Newton-Wellesley’s Cardiac Rehabilitation Program, we provide a team approach to care. Our experienced team of providers includes cardiologists, specially trained nurses, physical therapists, dietitians, and social workers.

Our social workers provide assistance such as getting help at home, financial guidance, dealing with anxiety or stress, and other issues that can occur with a heart problem.

Our Facility

Our cardiac rehabilitation gym is located within the Elfers Cardiovascular Center. The equipment in our gym has been specifically planned for patients in our Cardiac Rehabilitation Program.

Our state-of-the-art equipment includes treadmills, NuSteps, a standard stationary bike, and an elliptical machine.
