Joint Reconstruction and Replacement

Our joint surgeons have performed more than 10,000 hip reconstructions and knee reconstructions, which makes us one of the most experienced hospitals in joint replacement throughout Greater Boston. Studies show that patients experience better outcomes when they choose centers with a higher volume of joint surgery for their own procedures.

Joint surgery expertise for Greater Boston patients

Total Hip Replacement (Total Hip Arthroplasty)

The surgeon replaces an arthritic or badly damaged hip joint with artificial parts, known as an implant or prosthesis.

Revision Hip Replacement (Revision Hip Arthroplasty)

The surgeon replaces a hip implant that has loosened or failed with a new one.

Total Knee Replacement (Total Knee Arthroplasty)

The surgeon replaces the arthritic or badly damaged knee joint with artificial parts.

Revision Knee Replacement (Revision Knee Arthroplasty)

The surgeon replaces a knee implant that has loosened or failed with a new one.

Partial Knee Replacement (Unicompartmental Knee Arthroplasty)

In this procedure, the surgeon replaces only the worn portion of the knee joint, leaving the remainder of the knee unchanged.

Hip Arthroscopy

This outpatient minimally invasive procedure involves inserting a tiny camera through a small incision in the hip. The surgeon then views the joint on a video monitor and repairs cartilage or bone damage with tiny instruments that are inserted through a separate incision.

Knee Arthroscopy

This minimally invasive procedure involves inserting a tiny camera through a small incision in the knee. The surgeon then views the joint on a video monitor and repairs damage using tiny instruments that are inserted through additional incisions.

Osteotomy

The surgeon corrects poor alignment of the joint or redistributes weight on the joint. We perform this procedure to relieve pain, improve function, and prolong the joint’s life.

Shoulder Fracture Repair

The surgeon brings the fractured parts of a shoulder together and repairs them with pins, plates, screws, or wires.
