The Breast Imaging Center at Newton-Wellesley Hospital has an excellent, experienced team of radiologists, technologists, and support staff members. We are dedicated to providing women with highly specialized and comprehensive breast imaging services and advice in a comfortable setting designed around the needs of the patient. Our team is experienced in easing women’s concerns and making sure all questions before, during, and after testing are answered. If a woman’s result prompts additional testing, we will provide complete information and support.

Flexible scheduling and quick results

Our team is committed to making it easier and more convenient for women to have their annual mammograms. We offer screening appointments five days a week, including Saturdays, and we also offer evening and lunchtime appointments. Women who have their screening mammograms with us receive their results within two business days.

Experience

Every year, our experienced and compassionate radiologists perform approximately 25,000 screening mammograms, more than 10,000 diagnostic mammograms, and approximately 5,000 breast ultrasounds. Our staff members each year also perform over 1,500 breast procedures, which include stereotactic procedures, needle localizations, ultrasound breast biopsies, cyst aspirations, fine needle aspirations, and ductograms.

Center of Excellence 

The Center has been consistently recognized as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology (ACR). The designation shows that the Breast Imaging Center meets the highest standards of the radiology profession. Center of Excellence designation is awarded to breast imaging centers that have demonstrated excellence in breast imaging by achieving accreditation in mammography, breast ultrasound, and ultrasound-guided biopsy and stereotactic breast biopsy.

Accreditation

The Newton-Wellesley Mammography Program is licensed and inspected by the State of Massachusetts yearly, certified by the FDA and accredited by the American College of Radiology. All radiologists in the Women's Imaging Center are board-certified by The American Board of Radiology. All mammographers are credentialed by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in both radiology and mammography and licensed by the state of Massachusetts in radiology and mammography.
