Join us for our community programming hosted by Newton-Wellesley Hospital Community Health and The Newton-Wellesley Community Collaborative. All events are free and open to everyone. Please note the format of the program(s) you are attending; most are virtual, with a few being held in person. Please join as many programs as you would like by registering via the links below. On front lawn of Newton-Wellesley Hospital in recognition of National Recovery Month All are invited to attend the opening ceremony for the Purple Flag Project on Wednesday, September 18th from 12:15 pm - 1 pm beginning in the Shipley Auditorium followed by a front lawn memorial.

Each of the sessions below will be conducted by Julie Norstrand, PhD, MSW, MS. Consultant with Help My Aging Parents, LLC
Ideas about preparing for caregiving will be shared with the goal of reducing stress and avoiding challenges. This session will cover the practical step by step approaches to planning for caregiving. The key points you will gain from this session include: 1) Evaluating the situation when to step in to offer support; 2) What the conversation should consist of / topics to cover; 3) Setting up a plan collaboratively; and 4) Services and resources for older adults.
The event is virtual and free of charge.

This session will focus on ways to manage the emotional challenges that many caregivers experience. The key points you will gain from this session include: 1) What it means to be a caregiver; 2) Caregiver stress syndrome; 3) Emotional stressors; 4) How to manage stress; and 5) Services and resources for caregivers.
