Your health and safety is our top priority. As we prepare to welcome back more patients, we are taking a comprehensive approach to prevent the spread of infectious disease. The entire team at Newton-Wellesley Hospital (NWH) is dedicated to keeping our patients, staff and community members safe as we reopen our practices, clinics and facilities in alignment with the Commonwealth’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. We are fully prepared to provide you with the care you need most, when you need it—and we've made a commitment to keep you safe every step of the way. Read our Q&A to navigate health care during COVID-19 recovery phases.
Our specially trained and certified staff thoroughly cleans our facilities around the clock. This involves using methods recommended by the CDC for disinfecting patient care areas and all common areas, including hallways, waiting rooms, dining areas, elevators and restrooms.
Employees who work in patient care areas must attest to their wellness each day before arriving to work.
Upon making an appointment and again a day prior to their appointment, patients are asked to confirm that they are not experiencing any symptoms related to COVID-19 (screened for symptoms). As patients and visitors enter our facilities, they will undergo symptom-screening again at the check-in desks.
Every person who enters our facilities will be required to wear a face mask to protect themselves and others. We will provide a face mask to every patient and visitor as they enter our facilities. The face mask is expected to be worn for the duration of time spent at our facility, unless asked otherwise.
We’re continuing to limit visitors in our facility. Our waiting rooms, dining area and other common spaces have been modified to allow for everyone to keep a 6-foot distance. In places where it may not be possible to keep a safe distance, we've installed partitions and screens to protect against infection.
We expect everyone to wash their hands often with soap and water. We also have hand sanitizer available in several locations for our patients, visitors and staff.
Along with the safety measures above, the flow of your visit may feel a little different from the last time you visited us:
Thank you for your understanding over the last several months as we have needed to put elective and nonurgent health care needs on hold during the height of the COVID-19 crisis. As we reopen, we are fully prepared to provide you with the care you need in a safe environment. If you have current care needs, please do not delay; waiting can make your symptoms and conditions worse, which may require more complex treatment. Our providers are leveraging innovations in care, including virtual visits by phone or video; extended practice hours; and more.
We encourage you to contact your provider’s office to learn more and to schedule a visit if you have any health concerns.
