NEWTON, Mass. (July 31, 2019) -- U.S. News & World Report recently announced its 2019-20 hospital rankings, highlighting Newton-Wellesley Hospital (NWH) as fifth in the Boston Metro area, sixth in the state and “high-performing” in geriatrics, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), heart failure and lung cancer surgery. The hospital’s ranking was the highest of all community hospitals evaluated by U.S. News in Massachusetts. U.S. News compared more than 4,500 medical centers nationwide across 25 specialties, procedures and conditions to create the annual rankings.
“We are incredibly proud to be leading the way in delivering high-quality care with the best patient experience to every person who walks through our doors,” said Dr. Michael R. Jaff, President, Newton-Wellesley Hospital. “Being recognized by U.S. News as a top community hospital is a tremendous honor and a testament to the people who work and practice medicine at Newton-Wellesley. We are privileged to provide care for the communities we so proudly serve, locally and throughout the region.”
This is the first time NWH has been ranked in the Boston metro area or in the state by U.S. News & World Report. For this year’s rankings, survival rates, patient safety, specialized staff and hospital reputation were among the factors weighed. Please click here to view the complete list.
