Over two upcoming weekends in May and June, the Massachusetts Department of Transportation will be doing construction on the Mass Turnpike (I-90) at the interchange over the MBTA commuter rail line, as part of the Newton/Weston Bridge Project. The work is expected to cause significant delays and impact travel to and from Newton-Wellesley Hospital.
Work is scheduled to take place:
During this time, traffic on the turnpike will be reduced to one lane and cause significant delays on that roadway as well as adjacent access roads, including I-95/128, Route 9, Washington St. and Beacon St. This work will also interrupt service on the MBTA commuter rail line. Framingham/Worcester commuter rail and Amtrak Lake Shore Limited trains will be replaced by bus service.
Newton-Wellesley Hospital is working closely with first responders and our operational leaders and practices to ensure that we continue to provide exceptional patient care throughout the project. Patients and visitors are encouraged to plan travel to NWH accordingly.
