Newton, Mass. – Newton-Wellesley Hospital (NWH), a member of Mass General Brigham, today named Ellen Moloney as its next president and chief operating officer, effective March 1, 2023. She succeeds Errol R. Norwitz, MD, PhD, MBA.
“Since I first joined the Newton-Wellesley family in the hospital’s laboratory a quarter-century ago, I have grown to deeply appreciate its significance to our patients and our community,” Moloney said. “Newton-Wellesley is truly a special place, providing safe, high-quality, and compassionate care closer to our patients’ homes, while also connecting our patients with the world-class care available across Mass General Brigham. It is a privilege to work alongside so many exceptional colleagues, and I am excited to now have the opportunity to lead this remarkable organization and continue to build its legacy.”
A seasoned healthcare executive who first joined Newton-Wellesley in 1997, Moloney has been instrumental in the hospital’s success, playing a key role in the design and implementation of countless strategic initiatives and programs. Her accomplishments include the development and significant expansions of cancer, breast imaging, and ambulatory care services, as well as the implementation of the hospital’s electronic medical record system. Most recently, Ellen has overseen Newton-Wellesley’s capacity management and mitigation efforts and critical infrastructure upgrades, among other organizational priorities. Her knowledge, leadership skills, and dedication will help Newton-Wellesley continue to build upon its reputation for excellence and increase healthcare access for residents in the community.
Prior to serving as Newton-Wellesley’s COO for the past eight years, Moloney served as the hospital’s Director of Clinical Ancillary Services and as Senior Vice President for Outpatient Services. She will also become Newton-Wellesley’s first woman president, further demonstrating the hospital’s commitment to equity and representation.
