Friends of the Vernon Cancer Center
The Joan & James Vernon Cancer Center at Newton-Wellesley Hospital opened in September 2009 and provides comprehensive compassionate cancer care - all in a convenient community setting.
In addition to expert medical oncology and radiation oncology services, the hospital offers a wide variety of Integrative Support Services that benefit our cancer patients and their families. These services help reduce symptoms, improve quality of life, and boost patients’ ability to cope with the anxiety and stress of a cancer diagnosis and treatment plan. Services include:
In addition, cancer patients at the Vernon Cancer Center have access to a wide variety of clinical trials including research conducted in collaboration with the Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham & Women’s Hospital, and Dana-Farber Partners Cancer Care.
The Charitable Foundation has been asked to raise $1 million per year to fund a $10 million endowment, which has been established to support the Integrative Support Services provided at the Vernon Cancer Center. The interest income on the endowment will be used to fund these life-enhancing services, many of which are not fully covered by insurance.
Please consider becoming a Friend of the Vernon Cancer Center today. Your philanthropic support will help defray the cost of these services and ensure their availability for years to come. Please click here for information on the various ways you may make a gift (online, by mail, etc.).
