The Eliza Kendall Society

In 1886, the Newton Cottage Hospital received its first bequest, a sum of $250, from Miss Eliza Kendall of Newtonville. Her bequest was the first of many early contributions made to the hospital by members of the community who believed in the vision of the hospital’s founders. This tradition of supporting Newton-Wellesley Hospital through a planned gift continues today.

The Eliza Kendall Society was created to express appreciation and recognition for those who care about Newton-Wellesley Hospital’s future and its contribution to the community. The Eliza Kendall Society honors those whose meaningful planning and foresight will lead and advance Newton-Wellesley Hospital’s mission by naming the hospital as a beneficiary in their estate plans or by creating a life-income gift.

Grateful patients, family members and friends who have benefited from Newton-Wellesley Hospital’s services have said, “I wish I could do more.” A legacy gift does just that. It allows you the flexibility to make a gift that suits your needs and ensures that the Newton-Wellesley Hospital can continue to be one of the most outstanding community teaching hospitals in the country.

As a member of the Eliza Kendall Society, you will be recognized in the following ways:
  • Your name will be included on the permanent Eliza Kendall Society plaque in the Hospital’s West Lobby;
  • Invitation to attend the annual reception for leadership donors and other special events;
  • Recognition in the Annual Donor Report;
  • Knowledge that your support makes a profound difference in the lives of future patients lives.

The Eliza Kendall Society is a source of pride for its members who set an example for others to follow. If you have already named the Newton-Wellesley Hospital in your will or estate plans, thank you and please let us know by contacting Liz Gianakos at (617) 243-6751 or NWHCF@partners.org. We want to be sure that we can fulfill your wishes.
