Wait Time Explanation
**Wait times currently unavailable
Newton-Wellesley Emergency Department wait times are approximate and intended for informational purposes only. If you are having a medical emergency, call 9-1-1.
The ED wait time is updated every five minutes and represents the average time it takes for a patient to be placed into a treatment room to be seen by the Emergency Department practitioner on duty.
Patients are triaged (evaluated) on arrival by a registered nurse and are then seen by an emergency medicine provider based on severity. Those determined to require immediate attention will go directly to a room.
Please remember, we provide care to the most critical cases first. If an ambulance arrives with a critical patient or there is an emergency situation, the wait time for other patients may be affected. Wait times are always subject to change.
The national average wait time is 55.8 minutes*, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Newton-Wellesley strives to beat the national average.
