Endometriosis and Pregnancy

Endometriosis can make it difficult for a woman to become pregnant. At Newton-Wellesley Hospital, we have the experience, tools, and technology to determine the extent to which endometriosis may be impacting your fertility and ways in which it can be treated to help you become pregnant.

In mild to moderate cases, infertility from endometriosis may be just temporary. In these cases, surgery to remove adhesions, cysts, and scar tissue can restore fertility. Learn more about the surgery for endometriosis.

In a small percentage of cases, women may remain infertile and unable to become pregnant. Researchers and clinicians are still unclear on how endometriosis affects fertility, but research on this topic is ongoing. Learn more about how we are partnering with MIT in endometriosis research.

Women with impaired fertility have the greatest chance of conceiving when they receive treatment during the early stages of endometriosis. It is recommended that you seek prompt care if you have been diagnosed with endometriosis or believe you have the condition. Learn more about diagnosing endometriosis.
