Department of Radiology
PET
Serving the Greater Boston area, radiologists at the Newton-Wellesley Hospital Department of Radiology perform hundreds of PET scans annually. To make an appoint for a PET scan, or to speak with a member of our team, contact our Radiology Department.
Computed Tomography (CT scan) is a valuable, painless diagnostic tool that allows the radiologist to see a cross sectional picture of the body. CT scan technology has advanced over the years and is an increasingly powerful and effective tool in the diagnosis and treatment of countless injuries and diseases.
The MRI technology uses a magnetic field and radio waves to produce detailed pictures of the human body. As the radio waves pass through the body, images are created on a computer screen for radiologists to analyze. These precise images allow radiologists to view soft tissue (muscles, fat, internal organs, blood vessels and tendons) and bones without the use of X-rays or surgery.
The Imaging Service Center at Newton-Wellesley Hospital is responsible for maintaining, storing and retrieving patients' films and/or images that were completed at a Newton-Wellesley Imaging Site. Our state-of-the-art-system stores images electronically as digital data, providing patients and physicians with less waiting times, faster examinations and no lost film.
