Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Awards Newton-Wellesley Physician Group
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NEWTON-WELLESLEY HOSPITAL NAMED TO HARVARD PILGRIM HEALTH CARE PHYSICIAN GROUP HONOR ROLL
NEWTON, Mass. (October, 2008) – Newton-Wellesley’s Physician Hospital Organization has once again been named to Harvard Pilgrim Health Care’s (HPHC) sixth annual "Physician Honor Roll." The Honor Roll highlights adult and pediatric physician groups that have achieved exceptional results in their approach to disease prevention and the treatment of chronic illness. This is the sixth consecutive time that Newton-Wellesley physicians have achieved this designation.
Harvard Pilgrim selected the Honor Roll physician groups based on clinical performance measured against national standards set by HEDIS® (Health Plan Employer Data and Information Set), a tool developed for the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) to assess the clinical performance of doctors and other medical professionals. Harvard Pilgrim identified practices whose performance exceeded the national 90th percentile on a majority of preventive and chronic care measures such as cervical and breast cancer screenings, asthma management, diabetic testing and management, and the number of well-visits a child has.
Honor Roll practice providers are noted in Harvard Pilgrim's printed and online provider directories, enabling members to evaluate and select physicians based on quality measures.
