The following is a brief explanation of the benefits' options at Newton-Wellesley Hospital. To be eligible for benefits, you must be regularly scheduled to work a minimum of 16 hours per week. Benefits are pro-rated for part-time employees.
Employees may select coverage from four (4) plans. Two (2) HMO plans are offered - Harvard Pilgrim HealthCare and Tufts Health Plan, one (1) POS plan is offered through Blue Cross Blue Shield and one (1) PPO plan is offered through Blue Cross Blue Shield. There are two (2) levels of coverage: Individual and Family.
Prescription Drug Coverage
When employees enroll in a Newton-Wellesley Hospital medical plan, they will receive prescription drug coverage through Medco Health. Medco Health offers both retail and mail order drug coverage for a co-payment based on drug designation: generic, preferred brand and non-preferred brand.
Employees may select coverage from two (2) Delta Dental plans: Basic and Basic Plus. There are two (2) levels of coverage: Individual and Family.
Vision coverage is provided to employees through each of the health insurance plans.
Newton-Wellesley Hospital employees accrue earned time (ET). This time may be used for holidays, sick leave, vacation or personal days, and is based on years of service and scheduled hours. ET accrues over the course of a year, with new, full-time employees earning 33 days annually. Newton-Wellesley Hospital observes 10 core holidays, which are paid out of the earned time bank.
Employees may voluntarily enroll for Short-Term Disability. Core Coverage equals 70% of your weekly pay up to 26 weeks benefit capped at $750.00 per week.
Employees may voluntarily enroll for Long-Term Disability. Core Coverage equals 60% of your monthly pay; duration based on disability.
Employees may establish a reimbursement account for Health Care and/or Dependent Care expenses. The Health Care Account yearly maximum is $3,000.00 on a pre-tax basis, and the Dependent Care Account maximum is $5,000.00 per family on a pre-tax basis.
The Newton-Wellesley Hospital Partnership Plan is a 403(b) plan, which allows employees to voluntarily save on a pre-tax basis for retirement. Any employee may contribute voluntarily to the plan. The Hospital will contribute a 3% core and a 50% match (Hospital match not to exceed 2%) once employees have completed 2 years of service at 1,000 hours each year.
Newton-Wellesley Hospital covers the costs for Basic Term Life Insurance. Optional Term Life Insurance and Whole Life Insurance are offered on a voluntary basis.
Long Term Care Insurance
Long Term Care Insurance is available to non-bargaining employees. This benefit pays for nursing home care, assisted living and/or home health care for employee, spouse, parents (in-laws), and grandparents (in-law).
MBTA Corporate Pass Program
MBTA passes are a free benefit, up to the Federal and State limits, for all employees who participate.
Newton-Wellesley Hospital in conjunction with Caravan for Commuters offers an alternative transportation option for employees.
After six (6) months of service, employees who work 24 hours or more per week are eligible for 100% of tuition reimbursement up to $2,000 per year. Amounts are pro-rated for part-time employees.
There are a wide variety of resources available to assist Newton-Wellesley Hospital employees with maintaining a healthy balance. Our Employee Assistance Program and on-site Day Care help our employees meet the challenges of balancing work and family.
Our Life Balance program is offered to employees who participate Unum’s short-term disability program. This program is available to you and your family to help address life’s daily challenges, from workplace stress, to family issues such as parenting, education, aging, financial and legal questions. It provides 24-hour access to professional advice, including face-to-face visits when needed.
Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
The EAP offers assistance with work/life problems which can often affect job performance. The program is designed to help you deal with any situation that you feel is becoming a problem. Hyatt Legal Plan
The Hyatt Comprehensive Group Legal Services Plan provides you, your spouse and dependents with access to legal services at a low weekly fee, which is paid through the convenience of payroll deduction - automatic deductions from your paychecks. When employees use a participating Plan Attorney for covered services such as court appearances, document review and preparation, debt collection defense, wills, family matters, and real estate matters there are: No deductibles, No co-payments, No waiting periods, No claim forms. Plan Attorney assistance includes consultations on the telephone and in-person.
Each year, the Newton-Wellesley Hospital Auxiliary, Inc. makes funds available to support a scholarship aid program. Scholarships will be awarded to students whose goals are in a health care related field. Applicants must be accepted in a course of study leading to an undergraduate degree, certificate program, or a hospital school or professional nursing.
Award amounts for the upcoming academic year will depend on the number of individuals who may apply and who may be selected by the Committee. Scholarship recipients will be selected based on financial need, activities, and scholastic achievement.
Metropolitan Credit Union
Metropolitan Credit Union offers a Metro @ work program which includes membership privileges and a convenient way to access and utilize Metro’s products and services through your work environment. They offer several checking account plans, regular savings accounts, Christmas and vacation club accounts, consumer loans, mortgages, and much more.
Bank of America at Work
Bank of America has a special offer for Newton-Wellesley Hospital employees. If a Newton-Wellesley Hospital employee opens a Checking Account and signs up for direct deposit then there is no monthly fee. Citizens Bank-At-Work program gives Newton-Wellesley Hospital employees the option of depositing their paycheck into a Citizens checking account, savings account, or a combination of the two. US Savings Bonds
National Bond & Trust Company offers US Savings Bonds to be purchased through payroll deductions.
Employees Activities Committee (EAC) – also known as the 52 Club
The EAC offers discounts on a variety of activities, trips and functions. They also offer a dry cleaning service, stamps and movie passes at a discounted rate. There is a weekly cash drawing for 52-Club members. To be a member there is a fee of $1.00 per week.
AT&T and Verizon
AT&T and Verizon offer cellular plans and phones to employees at a discounted rate. There are Representatives that come on-site to meet with employees.
The Children’s Corner offers on-site day care services for children 12 months to 5 years of age at a discounted rate. Acceptance is dependent on space availability.
Metropolitan Property & Casualty Company
MetLife allows a Newton-Wellesley Hospital employee to purchase auto, homeowners and renters insurance through payroll deductions.
Shipley Fitness Center
The Shipley Fitness Center at Newton-Wellesley Hospital is for the use of Hospital employees, medical staff, other office staff and their families. The Fitness Center features top-of-the-line LifeFitness cardiovascular and strength training equipment. Classes are offered at the Center's light-filled, spacious Yoga Studio. The Center also provides locker rooms and showers as well as a steam shower and personal training at very reasonable rates.
