Alan Semine, MD, Appointed to Medical Advisory Board of Aid for Cancer ResearchAlan Semine, MD, Chief of Breast Imaging and Medical Director of the Auerbach Breast Center at Newton-Wellesley Hospital, recently accepted a position on the Medical Advisory Board of Aid for Cancer Research.Aid for Cancer Research is an all-volunteer group of 25 women from the greater Boston area who have raised millions of dollars to support vital research programs and medical grants in its 62 years of existence. Aid For Cancer Research channels its funds through a volunteer Medical Advisory Board of eminent Boston physicians who evaluate requests for research grants and equipment and make recommendations for the most effective use and application of the group's resources. Prior to joining Newton-Wellesley Hospital in 2002, Dr. Semine was Associate Radiologist at the Faulkner Sagoff Center for Breast Imaging and Diagnosis. He was a member of the Brigham & Women’s/Faulkner Hospitals Board of Trustees. He recently was elected President of the Massachusetts Radiological Society after serving as an officer of the Society for the past four years. "I am proud to have been asked to serve on ACR’s Medical Advisory Board” said Dr. Semine. "ACR’s funding of medical research and fellowships is a critical component of our quest for a cure for cancer." Dr. Semine received an A.B. from Harvard University and his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine. He interned at Newton-Wellesley Hospital, and completed both his residency in Diagnostic Radiology and fellowship in Nuclear Radiology, Ultrasound and CT at Tufts-New England Medical Center. Dr. Semine has authored numerous publications and lectured widely, including at national and international conferences. He is Clinical Professor of Radiology at Tufts University and is a member of several medical societies including the AMA, the American College of Radiology, the Radiological Society of North America and the Society of Breast Imaging. He is a Delegate to the Massachusetts Medical Society from the Charles River District. Dr. Semine resides in Weston with his family. |
