Newton-Wellesley Hospital Physicians Perform at Partners Night at the PopsFrom Thomas P. Glynn, Ph.D. Chief Operating Officer, Partners HealthCare June 2010 The 13th annual Partners Night at the Pops: A Celebration in Honor of Our Physicians was held on Thursday, May 27, 2010, at Symphony Hall thanks to the ongoing support of John Hancock Financial. Celebrating the 125th anniversary of the Pops, Conductor Keith Lockhart led the Boston Pops Orchestra in a trip down memory lane by performing musical selections from legendary Pops conductors Arthur Fiedler and John Williams, as well as from Lockhart’s own repertoire. The Boston Pops and guest singer Maureen McGovern thoroughly entertained the nearly 1,000 Partners physicians and their guests in attendance. The highlight of the evening was when Partners own “Physician Talent” performed live on stage with the Pops. Recruited for their singing talent, a total of 15 Partners physicians took part in “A Cinematic Sing-Along” – seven physicians were lead singers and eight were members of the chorus.
The audience also sang along with the chorus and was entertained by images from the films that were displayed on a large screen above the stage. With some creative editing, the images were altered to display the physicians’ faces in place of the actual actors and actresses. The “Physician Talent” performance was brilliantly delivered and highly entertaining, and all the physicians seemed to truly enjoy their moment in the spotlight on stage at Symphony Hall. Partners would like to thank Keith Lockhart, the Boston Pops and Partners own Physician Talent for an enjoyable and memorable evening. Partners also thanks John Hancock for its generous sponsorship of Partners Night at the Pops: A Celebration in Honor of Our Physicians for the past 11 years. Through John Hancock’s support, Partners is able to host this popular annual event to thank the dedicated physicians across the system and provide them with a forum to network with their colleagues. |
