Five Chair EvaluationsFIVE CHAIR EVALUATIONSMartin B. Weiss, MD The NWH Bylaws stipulate the evaluation of each NWH Department Chair every five years. Five Department Chairmanships are due for review in 2008 and include Surgery, Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Psychiatry. Each Evaluation Committee is comprised of seven members: (a) the CEO or designee, a Trustee, and one other Department Chair, all appointed by the CEO; and (b) one Department member from a list of three or more selected by the Department, one other Department member and two other Medical Staff members, all appointed by the Medical Staff President. The Evaluation Committees have been formed and have each sent out notices to the Medical Staff, Nursing, Executive Management Team, and in some cases other institutions, requesting information. The Committees have listed their membership in their notices to you and are looking for any information that focuses on general leadership skills, quality of clinical services provided, administrative skills, teaching ability, any research and publications, patient care, medical knowledge, professionalism, and interpersonal and communication skills. The Chairs to be evaluated this calendar year are listed below along with their respective Evaluation Committee Chair and e-mail address. The committees are now soliciting and accepting any information relating to Department Chair performance and will be kept CONFIDENTIAL. You may contact the Committee Chair by e-mail, phone, or in person and your name will be deleted prior to submission to the Committee for review. You may also contact me directly and I will forward your submission to the appropriate Committee anonymously.
