Fabulous Finish to Foundation's Fund Year Mark Belsky, MD, the newly-elected chair of the Newton-Wellesley Hospital Charitable Foundation, reports that September 30 marked the end of another successful year for the Charitable Foundation. The goal of $6.5 million was reached and slightly exceeded with $6,546,000 raised from approximately 3,000 donors. Within the total raised is the Newton-Wellesley Annual Fund which raises money for the unrestricted operating budget - funds that help keep the doors open at Newton-Wellesley. The Annual Fund goal of $850,000 was slightly exceeded with $853,000 raised. Almost 80% of the annual fund is achieved from gifts from leadership donors who participate at the Pillar Society Level. There are 220 members in the Pillar Society who annually contribute $1,000 or more to NWH's Annual Fund. Physicians account for 20% of the Pillar Society members. Other funds include special projects such as the Vernon Cancer Center, Slotnick Family Pavilion, Master Clinician Program, Nursing Education, etc. "We are deeply grateful to the physicians at Newton-Wellesley who have not only made the hospital their professional home, but have contributed generously to the Charitable Foundation, said Belsky. "The funds raised for special centers and the annual fund are vitally important to the financial health of the institution and directly benefit our patients. It is an honor to serve as the Chairman of the Foundation, following in the footsteps of Bob Danziger, the founding chairman." From Joan Archer |
