Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts has recently recognized the Center for Weight Loss Surgery at Newton-Wellesley Hospital as a Blue Distinction Center for Bariatric Surgery. Part of a nationwide program, this important designation recognizes 16 medical facilities across the state that are making a difference in healthcare outcomes and value in a variety of areas.

Based on clinical data from hospitals and registries, research indicates that Blue Distinction Centers demonstrate better, more consistent overall outcomes with fewer post-procedure complications and lower mortality rates. This designation provides consumers with a credible means of selecting facilities that best meet their individual specialty care needs.
