Pulmonary RehabilitationPulmonary rehabilitation (PR) is comprised of a multidisciplinary program for patients with chronic respiratory impairment that is designed to optimize physical performance, improve quality of life and reduce shortness of breath and stress. The program is appropriate for individuals with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), pulmonary hypertension, interstitial lung disease or restrictive lung disease.Patients participate in twice weekly small group sessions that include one hour of aerobic exercise and strength training with a physical therapist. Adaptations are made for underlying musculoskeletal impairments and exercise programs are individualized. Once per week there is a gentle yoga class emphasizing proper breathing mechanics, breath with movement and stress reduction. Each 12 week session includes 4 lectures, each an hour long:
