Newton-Wellesley Hospital's neurologic physical therapists specialize in the evaluation and treatment of individuals with movement problems due to disease or injury of the nervous system. We provide rehabilitation for adults who have experienced a recent decline in function due to a neurological or medical condition, as well as specialized care for individuals with dizziness or imbalance due to inner ear (vestibular) dysfunction.

After an initial evaluation, which includes an interview with the patient/family to gain an understanding of the most important goals for rehabilitation, an individualized plan of care is established for each person. The focus of rehabilitation is on optimizing mobility, balance and function, and typically includes patient instruction in home exercises to optimize long term carryover of gains made during physical therapy.
