The Division of Cardiology provides comprehensive consultative, diagnostic and therapeutic services providing a continuum of care for patients with or at high risk for cardiovascular disease. We focus on diagnosis, acute and chronic medical management, and preventive services.

A close collaborative and efficient relationship with other Partners facilities and MGH provides the best available cardiac interventional, electrophysiologic, and cardiac surgical services. Our division’s historic collegial and collaborative relationship with primary care physicians provides for a highly integrated longitudinal care plan for patients with cardiac disease.

All Newton-Wellesley cardiologists are board-certified or board-eligible and provide elective or urgent consultations as necessary. Diagnostic non-invasive testing includes multiple modes of 30-day and 24-hour ambulatory electrocardiography, exercise and pharmacologic stress testing with or without radionuclide imaging, and highly developed cardiac ultrasound imaging, either transthoracic or transeophageal with adjunctive contrast or exercise.

The division also provides a full range of medical services for the treatment of valvular heart disease, acute and chronic ischemic syndromes, arrhythmias, congestive heart failure, and coronary risk factors, particularly hyperlipidemia.

Additional services include pacemaker implantation, anticoagulation and heart failure clinics, and rehabilitative preventive cardiology in association with the Cardiovascular Health Center.

The Division of Cardiology is actively involved in the hospital’s medical education programs, both at the undergraduate and post-graduate levels. The service continues to participate in clinical cardiovascular research.
