About Our Screenings
Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Screening
This screening consists of a non-invasive ultrasound of the abdominal area to look for an enlargement of the aorta. Advance registration is required, screening availability is limited. Please note: Fasting is required 6 to 8 hours prior.
Eligible participants: Should not have had a previous ultrasound of the aorta or a CT scan of the abdomen in the previous five years and should be over the age of 65 (or 55 with a family history of aneurysm disease). |

Bone Density
The ultrasound bone densitometer measures the bone density in your heel. The heel bone contains a high percentage of the kind of bone most affected by osteoporosis. The screening is simple, painless and radiation-free. Recommended for post-menopausal women and men 65 years of age or older. |

Carotid Artery Screening
Carotid artery disease, also called carotid artery stenosis, refers to the narrowing of the carotid arteries (located on each side of your neck, below the angle of the jaw line). This narrowing is usually caused by the buildup of fatty substances and cholesterol deposits, called plaque. When the carotid arteries are obstructed, you are at an increased risk for a stroke. We will use ultrasound technology to create images of the carotid arteries and measure the blood flow through these vessels. The amount of plaque buildup in the arteries and the speed of the blood flow are reported.
