Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
The Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Newton-Wellesley Hospital is a general psychiatry clinic that has been treating children and adolescents with a broad range of emotional and behavioral difficulties for more than a decade. Our dedicated team of mental health specialists provides thorough evaluations for issues that parents or pediatricians might be concerned about such as anxiety, inattention, irritability or moodiness, behavioral problems affecting function at school, self-injury and more. We consider the many aspects of a child’s life that may be contributing to a problem and actively involve parents in evalulation and treatment planning, as well as providing support and education for parents.
Last year, more than 1,000 children and adolescents were treated for a mental health issue at Newton-Wellesley Hospital. In addition to treatment in our outpatient clinic, Newton-Wellesley offers specialized consultation to children in crisis in the Vinik Family Pediatric Emergency Room and in the Pediatric Inpatient Care Unit.
