Medical Staff Services
The Medical Staff Services Department’s primary function is to assure practitioners’ current competency in providing care to our patients through the processing of appointments/reappointments of membership and privileges for licensed independent practitioners – physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, psychologists, nurse anesthetists, and others.
Newton-Wellesley has over 1,200 practitioners credentialed on its staff, and we process an average of 120 applications per year. We work closely with Department Chairs, Service Chiefs, other physician leaders and many Hospital departments such as Patient Safety and Quality, Risk Management, the On-Boarding team and the Newton-Wellesley Physician Hospital Organization (PHO).
We are responsive to the needs and requirements of institutional Bylaws and outside agencies such as The Joint Commission, Mass. Department of Public Health and the Mass. Board of Registration in Medicine. We are also responsive to our customers, the practitioners and physician leaders we work with every day.
