Preparing for Surgery
The Jim & Ellen Kaplan Joint Center at Newton-Wellesley Hospital offers preoperative education classes for patients considering or preparing for joint surgery.
The classes, taught by a nurse, physical therapist and occupational therapist, are designed to provide an overview of the experience from preoperative planning to the return home.
Material covered includes:
- information about the surgery
- nursing care

The education classes give patients and their guests an opportunity to ask questions, get more information and talk to the instructors about their concerns.
