Welcome to Anticoagulation Management Services
Anticoagulation Management Services at Newton-Wellesley Hospital provides specialized care for patients on anticoagulation therapy. The team at the Clinic monitors and adjusts doses of Warfarin, also known as Coumadin, an anti-clotting medication used to treat and prevent blood clots.
The mission of the Clinic is to provide high-quality care to patients requiring anticoagulation therapy in a safe and effective manner. The nurses in the Clinic provide comprehensive monitoring, management and education for patients who require anticoagulation therapy.
Anticoagulation medication is taken by patients who need to decrease the risk of harmful blood clots. Careful monitoring is necessary to keep patients safe from the risk of bleeding. Our Clinic is staffed by experienced nurses who monitor patients to assess the amount of anticoagulation produced by a given dose of Warfarin. A patient’s Warfarin dose is adjusted in order to maintain a safe and effective range as prescribed by their referring physician.
