 The Vernon Cancer Center provides personalized cancer care in a private and comfortable setting. Through an anonymous donation, the Center recognizes and honors Joan and James Vernon of Weston, Massachusetts. Joan, a nurse and caregiver to many friends and community members, passed away in 2005 from cancer. Her husband, James Vernon, MD, Surgeon at Newton-Wellesley Hospital for nearly four decades, helped design and guide the Center. Comprehensive, Compassionate Cancer Care At the Joan and James Vernon Cancer Center at Newton-Wellesley Hospital, we offer our patients comprehensive medical care. Our clinical services include: The Center also offers educational and support workshops and other positive life-enhancing programs through our integrative support services.These services are offered in a comfortable setting, close to home. With advancements in cancer therapy, it is common for patients to undergo a multi-modality treatment plan. The Cancer Center provides a convenient location for patients to receive all of their care by a team of physicians they know and trust. The Center offers patients a soothing environment with comforting aesthetic features creating a warm and relaxing atmosphere.
