It brings the world-renowned expertise of two of the most successful reproductive medicine centers in the country to Newton-Wellesley, where couples can receive infertility specialty care in a unit that provides the utmost privacy, comfort and convenience.
Our staff understands that trying to conceive a child can be a difficult, sometimes frustrating, experience. We are here to listen and provide the personal support you need as you consider your options and move forward with the treatment that is most appropriate for you.
The physicians of the Partners Center are affiliated with Massachusetts General's Vincent Infertility and Endocrinology Service and Brigham and Women’s Center for Reproductive Medicine, two of the country's most respected infertility treatment centers. Our physicians are board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, and are faculty members of Harvard Medical School. We practice the most advanced approaches available for treating infertility.
Advances in Treatment
Tremendous progress has been made in the field of infertility treatment over the past decade, and the majority of couples who now seek professional medical help for infertility are able to become pregnant. Most couples are successful using relatively simple, low-tech methods, including hormonal therapies to help women ovulate, combined with either timed intercourse or intrauterine insemination.
In a small percentage of cases, however, couples require one of the assisted reproductive technologies (ART), which overcome many causes of infertility by uniting sperm and egg in the laboratory. Success rates for these procedures have improved steadily since they were introduced in the late 1970s. (In vitro fertilization was the first ART procedure and it is still the most commonly used.) These procedures give many infertile couples a chance of pregnancy that compares favorably to that of a fertile couple.
